Microsoft Window Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) has been released for general distribution on 18th March 2008. Window Vista Service Pack 1 is an update to Window Vista that, along with improvements delivered to users, addresses the feedback from Window Vista users. Window Vista Service Pack 1 changes focused on reliability, performance, supporting new types of hardware and many more.

Before you install Window Vista Service Pack 1, as a steady end user, please read through the release note to check the details of installation. Not only apply to installation of the Window Vista Service Pack 1, it is also apply to other software or driver, users should practice to go through the installation guide before install the software or driver.

On top of that, you also need to know your computer is running on 32-bit processor or 64-bit processor. Different processor need to download different version of Window Vista Service Pack 1.

To see if your computer is running 32-bit or 64-bit Windows, do the following:

Step 1: Open System by clicking the Start button Picture of the Start button, clicking Control Panel, clicking System and Maintenance, and then clicking System.
Step2: Under System, you can view the system type.

After download, just double click on the file it will run immediately. The installation takes quite long time, thus you may consider to install it during lunch hour or during you are in the meeting. Once the installation is completed, restart the computer.
