I can assure that some webmasters definitely came across a situation that you believe your site is down as it is not connecting but someone access the world or your friends can easily to access your site. So, how do you check if your site is down for everyone or is just for you?

Rather than checking your site connectivity with your hosting provider or IM your friend to test it for you, why don’t you give it a simple and quick test it at http://downforeveryoneorjustme.com by simply entering your website name and it will tell you if its just you almost instantly.

This simple, sweet and quick tool is created by Alex Payne. Here’s how it works.

1. You enter your domain name or site name in the given field.

2. The tool will do a HEAD request against “/” for the domain name that you had entered.

3. If the site responds in 4 secs, it will report that “It’s just you. bubblesugar.com is up.”

4. Otherwise, it shows you “Huh? doesn’t look like a site on the Internet.” or “Looks down from here”.

If your site cannot be accessed without “www”, you may need to enter your domain name with “www” else the result may not be accurate.

There is another web tool has the similar function like DownForEveryoneOrJustMe.com named checksite.us. If you somehow cannot access DownForEveryoneOrJustMe.com or the domain name is just too long, you can try checksite.us.
